LATEST UPDATE FROM BERKS & BUCKS FA 16/03/20
The FA have, this evening, released the following update regarding the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on football in England.
Following the Government announcement earlier today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.
Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time.
We are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed.
Please be advised this announcement relates to all football activity at grassroots level including training sessions, friendlies and fixtures. Further updates from Berks & Bucks FA will follow in due course.
The FA is actively monitoring and adopting Government advice and, as a matter of good practice, would recommend that Leagues and Clubs and individuals adopt the same approach. You can stay up-to-date with the latest advice from Public Health England and the NHS via their websites.

A message from our ex-Chairman Lee McDougall:

AFC Newbury Boys & Girls has joined forces with several other local community groups to ask West Berkshire Council to reconsider its plans to knock down Newbury’s only purpose-built football ground whch is used by the local community There is no plan to replace this high quality, enclosed grass pitch, grandstand, changing facilities. function rooms and clubhouse with anything, contrary to WBC's core strategy of protecting its own Green Infrastucture. We passionately believe football, like all sport, inspires young people and provides a focus for personal and physical development from early years into adulthood. We’ve seen first-hand how sport can turn lives around. Newbury does not have enough community football facilities with the only all-weather outdoor, floodlit, artificial turf training venues in a few large secondary schools and these are in high demand from many commercial organisations. Also, the town is lacking quality grass pitches to meet the sporting demands of local children. If you value local youth sport, please help us by watching the video, signing the petition and sharing them with your friends and family, thank you.
